Summer Enrichment Program

At CAI Learning Academy we are committed to ensuring our students achieve their potential. The Summer Enrichment Program helps us meet this objective. Through this program:

number one

We prepare incoming Kindergarten students

for our full day Kindergarten program by teaching them basic student etiquette, helping them ease into a full day away from mom and dad, allowing them to establish meaningful relationships with their teaching staff and peers and exposing them to school work prior to actually entering Kindergarten.

number two

We work to prevent Summer Learning Loss

also known as Summer Slide with students that struggle academically. Our Summer Enrichment Program environment offers students additional time and practice to master subjects and in doing so builds their confidence.

number three

We provide enrichment opportunities

to advanced students to develop their capabilities more fully and engage them as student leaders.

Who Can Participate?

To accomplish the program objectives, each summer we will require all students entering our Kindergarten program to attend the free 5-week program. Additionally, because the transition into a new school can be overwhelming for a child, we encourage any student new to the CAI Learning Academy family who will be entering 1st - 5th grades to also participate.

As the regular school year comes to an end in mid-June, classroom teachers will meet to discuss the academic performance of all students. At this time, students who require additional opportunities to learn and practice essential skills in reading and math will be identified and invited to participate in the summer program. Selection for participation in the 1st - 5th grade summer program will be based solely on academic need.

Program Structure and Academics

Students Entering Kindergarten

Students entering kindergarten will work on essential skills they will need when they start school in the fall. These students, who may not have previously attended preschool, are attending a summer bridge program aimed at providing a crash course on all things kindergarten. Our focus is on developing skills children need to succeed in the classroom, for example, how to wait your turn, raise a hand to answer a question or ask for help, play cooperatively with classmates, and handle time away from family.

Academically, students will have an opportunity to learn the alphabet and their numbers in a fun interactive way. They will also be introduced to apps that they will be using during the regular school year. Lastly, they will have the opportunity to create friendships with students in the 1st - 5th grades through a variety of school wide activities and weekly field trips.

Students Entering Grades 1-5

During the Summer Program, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will continue to work on skills in language arts and math. They will also continue to be challenged using Educational Technology. There will be weekly themes centered around S.T.E.A.M. learning that will connect with our core curriculum in fun and engaging ways. Students will also be able to participate in weekly Friday Field Trips around the Lehigh Valley!
