Hello! My name is Richard Smith, and I am the fourth grade teacher at CAI Learning Academy! I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself.

The oldest of four children, I live with my parents in Quakertown, PA, where I grew up. I graduated from Quakertown Community Senior High School in 2003. From there I went on to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, while also maintaining a minor in music, at Gwynedd Mercy College. I graduated in 2007 Cum Laude with Program Honors. I did my Student Teaching experience at Richland Elementary School in the Quakertown Community School District in fourth grade. Over the past ten years, I have had experience working with students ranging in age from 2 years old all the way up through high school. I have a good deal of experience working with students who have learning and emotional delays. My last position was as the fourth grade teacher at Our Lady Help of Christians School in Allentown in its final year of existence.

Personally, I have many hobbies I enjoy. I am a ravenous fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers. I am also a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes college football team. I also enjoy reading both books and comic books, playing video games, watching movies, singing, playing tabletop RPGs, and spending time with my friends and family.

I absolutely love teaching fourth grade. It is so fun and exciting to work with this age group: watching the students grow, mature, and take on more and more responsibility as the year progresses. I look forward to working with all the students this year!
