The Summer Program at CAI Learning Academy is designed to:
Ease incoming Kindergartners into entering school for the first time.
Prevent summer learning loss for students entering 1st - 6th grades.
Provide an environment in which struggling students can develop the confidence they need to be successful leaders.
Establish meaningful relationships with peers and role models.
Promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
Who Can Participate?
To accomplish the program objectives, each summer we will invite all students entering our Kindergarten program to attend the free 5-week program. Additionally, because the transition into a new school can be overwhelming for a child, we encourage any student new to the CAILA family who will be entering 1st - 6th grades to also participate.
As the regular school year comes to an end in mid-June, classroom teachers will meet to discuss the academic performance of all students. At this time, students who require additional opportunities to learn and practice essential skills in reading and math will be identified and invited to participate in the summer program. Selection for participation in the 1st - 6th grade summer program will be based solely on academic need.
Participation Guidelines and Requirements
At this time participation in this program is not mandatory; however, students who sign up will be expected to attend the whole five weeks of the Summer Program. Exceptions will be made for family vacations that are approved in advance of the start of the Program. Students who miss more than five non-approved days of the Summer Program will not be eligible to participate in Field Trip Fridays.
All students entering our Kindergarten program or who are new to the school will be required to participate in the 5 week summer program.

Program Structure and Academics
Students Entering Kindergarten
Students entering kindergarten will work on essential skills they'll need when they start school in the fall. These students, who may not have previously attended preschool, are attending a summer bridge program aimed at providing a crash course on all things kindergarten. Our focus is on developing skills children need to succeed in the classroom, for example, how to wait their turn, raise a hand to answer a question or ask for help, play cooperatively with classmates, and handle time away from family.
Academically, students will have an opportunity to learn the alphabet and their numbers in a fun interactive way. They will also be introduced to apps that they will be using during the regular school year. Lastly, they will have the opportunity to create friendships with students in the 1st - 6th grades through a variety of school wide activities and weekly field trips.
1st - 6th Grade Information
During the Summer Program, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders will continue to work on skills in language arts and math. They will also continue to be challenged through the use of Educational Technology. There will be weekly themes that will connect our core concepts in fun and engaging ways. Themes will include: Superhero week, Camping week, Fairy Tale week, Around the World in 80 Days, and Celebration Extravaganza! Students will also be able to participate in weekly Friday Field Trips around the Lehigh Valley!
